The JavaTM SECS Library
ErgoTech’s Java SECS Library is an integral part of our other SECS products. The Library is a complete collection of Java components that can be used to create SECS host or equipment applications using any Java IDE.
The ErgoTech SECS Libray is Java implementation of the SEMI SECS/GEM specification. This includes SECSI (RS232) and a pure Java implementation of HSMS, SECS II and GEM. With SECSII and HSMS, or HSMS/SECSII and GEM, you can communicate with equipment from any computer equipped with a web-browser. This "thin-client" approach means that there is no software to install on the client system and brings unprecedented ease of use to critical monitoring and control tasks.
ErgoTech provides a new object-oriented design which makes it easier for you to integrate SECS into new or existing applications. All you need to do is provide a "message handler" object. This object can implement methods corresponding to the equivalent SECS II messages, for example S1F3, which will be called automatically upon receipt of these messages. You can use the same handler with SECS and with GEM, you can even add GEM transparently at a later date.
We also provide the equipment side so that you can run our Java implementation directly on any equipment that has a JVM. You could also simulate the equipment interface in HSMS and talk to the real equipment using SECSI over RS232 to build a communications gateway.
Look at ErgoTech's ORGiTM product for a solution to the problems associated with single connections to semiconductor equipment either through a single SECSI link or an HSMS Single Session connection that allows only one connection. Our TransSECS product provides a fully graphical means to develop and deploy SECS Equipment applications. See ErgoTech's JavaBeansTM (Virtual Instrumentation BeansTM) to create a full Java HMI monitoring and control solution. The VIB package is part of the TransSECS software suite.
